17 and 18-year-old charged in Anthony Wilson's murder in Beaumont's West End last week

BEAUMONT, Texas — Two teenage suspects are charged in Anthony Wilson's murder investigation. 

Wilson, 37, was murdered in Beaumont's West End Thursday, April 11, sparking outrage in the community and a hunt to find three suspects Beaumont Police said were involved in auto burglaries in the neighborhood before the deadly shooting.

Jamirious Jantrel Gardner, 17, and John James Cook, 18, were arrested and charged with murder after hours of interviews around 5 a.m. April 14, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release. The suspects each have a bond set at $1 million. 

According to a probable cause affidavit, Gardner admitted to being involved in the shooting of Wilson, as well as being involved in taking Wilson's vehicle after the shooting.

Morrow said detectives worked "non-stop" on the case, with overwhelming assistance from the community, including investigating hundreds of tips and doorbell / home surveillance video from the community. 

Beaumont Police have asked that residents in the Dowlen West neighborhood check their security videos for suspicious activity between 8 p.m. and 10: 30 p.m., and residents in the Amelia neighborhood check their security video for any suspicious activity between 10 and 11 p.m.
