The FBI and the Beaumont Police Department are seeking the public's help in identifying the "red-bearded bank bandit" who robbed a Beaumont bank on Monday.
A reward of up to $1000 has been offered by Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of the man who police say robbed the Community Bank on Highway 105 in Beaumont on Monday.
FBI Agents in Beaumont and Houston are working with Beaumont Police to investigate the robbery and determine if the suspect may be involved in other robberies.
The bank robber is described as being a white man, approximately 5’5” - 5’8” tall, with a red beard, wearing a tan tan long-sleeved button-down shirt, dark pants, a grey baseball cap, black rimmed glasses, and a white and plaid scarf around his neck according to a release from the FBI.
He entered the bank carrying a large, red, women's style handbag and threatened tellers with a demand note at about 11:55 a.m. according to the release.
Beaumont Police Officer Officer Haley Walters told 12News the note read "This is a bank robbery."
The robber did not display a weapon or hurt anyone and fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the release said.
The robber was caught via surveillance video running to a 2012 or 2013 Cadillac CTS 4-door sedan with tinted windows in the Ritter Lumber parking lot and then driving away.
Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of this bank robber.
