Lake Charles man arrested in Louisiana in Orange bank robbery

LAKE CHARLES, La. — Louisiana State Troopers arrested a man from Lake Charles wanted by Texas law enforcement for a bank robbery. 

Louisiana State Police's Gaming Enforcement Division received a tip on January 24, 2019 that a person from Lake Charles could be connected to a bank robbery that took place in Orange, Texas, according to Louisiana State Police. 

Troopers investigated and determined that James Spikes, 44, matched the description of the suspect in the bank robbery, Trooper Derek Senegal said in a news release. 

Louisiana State Police investigators along with the Orange Police Department found Spikes at his home in south Lake Charles the next day, Jan. 25. 

Spikes admitted to committing the robbery and turned over evidence of his crime to detectives during questioning, Senegal said. The evidence included the disguise he wore during the robbery. 

Spikes was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Orange, Texas, Senegal said.
