A Kountze native just brought the Championship Bull Rididng (CBR) trophy home to Southeast Texas.
In a release on the Championship Bull Riding website, Cody Teel beat out 25 other competitors, and will be crowned the 2015 CBR World Champion. His victory came after, what the release described as, "Five rounds of non-stop heart pounding, adrenaline charged competition that featured an old fashioned Shoot Out at the World Finals Cheyenne Frontier Days corral."
At one point in the competition, Teel's ankle was seriously injured, and required him to use crutches. “I just had to tough it out, with two down last night and three more to go, I had to dig down deep,” Teel said.
Tough it out indeed - Teel got back in the competition, and took home a win.
“My main focus was just staying on bulls," Teel said before taking the win. "Whoever stays on the most bulls will be the winner."
