Honorable Keith Giblin named King Neches LXXI

BEAUMONT, Texas — The Neches River Festival announced Honorable Keith F. Giblin as King Neches LXXI on Tuesday. 

Giblin is honored for serving his community through non-profits and church-related activities according to a Neches River Festival news release.

Giblin has been involved in the community by serving as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 601 and on the Board of Directors for the Three Rivers Council according to the release. 

He served on the Board of Trustees of All Saints Episcopal School and has taught religion at the school for many years in his spare time according to the release. 

He is a parish priest, and has been active in the Diocese and serves as the President of the Disciplinary Board for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas according to the release.

Giblin has been married to his wife Joyce for 38 years according to the release.

The Honorable Keith F. Giblin took the oath of office as United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Texas on October 1, 2004. He was reappointed for a second term which he began serving on October 1, 2012. In addition to presiding over criminal cases and general civil cases, as a United States Magistrate Judge, Judge Giblin has handled a large number of intellectual property cases, including pretrial management, Markman hearings, and trials. 

He has been a panelist and presenter during numerous legal seminars across the country and has spoken on topics including federal practice, criminal law, and patent litigation. Judge Giblin received a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Lamar University in 1986 and and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1989. While serving on the federal bench, he also attended the University of Houston Law Center and earned received an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Law in 2010. 

Judge Giblin is also a graduate of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas’ Iona School for Ministry; is an ordained Episcopal priest, and currently serves as Vicar of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Orange. He is currently enrolled as an M.B.A, student at Lamar University and is an Adjunct Professor in the Criminal Justice Program at that university. Prior to becoming a United States Magistrate Judge, Judge Giblin was the Attorney in Charge of the Beaumont Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas and was assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. 

He has extensive trial experience and appellate experience and he supervised criminal investigations conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and other federal agencies. For his work as an Assistant United States Attorney, Judge Giblin was awarded the Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney which was presented by the Executive Office for United States Attorneys and the Attorney General of the United States. 

Judge Giblin has been active and involved in the community. He has served as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 601 and has served on the Board of Directors for the Three Rivers Council. He served on the Board of Trustees of All Saints Episcopal School and, in his spare time, has taught Religion at the school for many years. In addition to being a parish priest, Judge Giblin is active in the Diocese and currently serves as the President of the Disciplinary Board for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. 

He has served on the board and regularly volunteers at Boys’ Haven. He is a member of the Jefferson County Bar Association and have been a member since 1990. He served on the Board of Directors of the Jefferson County Bar Association and is a past president of that organization. 

He has been awarded the Cris Quinn Award and the Kenneth W. Lewis Professionalism Award by the Jefferson County Bar Association. Judge Giblin has been married to his wife Joyce for 38 years and has four amazing sons. He has a beautiful two-year old granddaughter and a grandson on the way.
