Port Arthur and South Jefferson County law enforcement agencies come together to raise money and donations for Sgt. Jeremy Houston, a thirteen-year veteran at PAPD. Houston and his family lost their home last Friday during a fire, and now his close friends in the community are coming together to their lives back to normal.

Ahmal Bodden, a street crimes investigator at PAPD said, "It's just devastating when you get up and go to work and take your child to school and you get a call within an hour that your house is on fire and you get there and it's literally almost burnt to the ground."

Precinct 2 Constable Christopher Bates told 12News on Tuesday that you can either make a monetary donations, of even give clothing, furniture, etc.Bates added that all of the men and women in the local law enforcement agencies are going to do their best to help the Houston family get back on its feet. "We can come together as one and help each other in this law enforcement family and people in the community," said Bates. "We just want to show that togetherness, that bond and like we all said the donations and anything that we give will be a blessing to them."

Earlier this week, PAPD Detective Patrick Britton started a gofundme.com page to help the Houston family, and at Noon Tuesday, there were over $2,200 in donations already pledged. Click here to visit the website and make a donation - https://www.gofundme.com/sbkz585g

According to Britton, "Just based off of who they are, not just as if the tragic incident but because of who they are. They are always the type who are a blessing to others and now is our turn to be a blessing to them."
