Four Port Neches police officers test positive for COVID-19

One of the officers has completed quarantine time and is awaiting medical clearance to go back to work

PORT NECHES, Texas — Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine confirms to 12News four of the police officers in the department tested positive for COVID-19. 

Lemoine says they're remaining in quarantine. The city is working to test all of the police force and administrative staff in the department.

Chief Lemoine says one of the officers has completed the quarantine time and is awaiting doctor's clearance to go back to work.

One of the officers received a 'false negative' six weeks ago and continud to work because he wasn't showing any symptoms according to Chief Lemoine.

The other three tests were performed periodically, not all at once. The first positive test result came back two weeks ago according to Lemoine.
