After filling up at the Raceway, one woman said she couldn't start her car once she got home from the gas station and tried to make errands.
But one local mechanic said diesel fuel damage isn't serious.
"It doesn't create any real problems to the motor," said Lupe Cortez, a mechanic at Gateway Mobil who has dealt with diesel fuel damage before.
He said accidentally fueling with diesel won't cause major problems to your engine.
"It's not going to create any real problems to the motor itself. Once the fuel is drained, the fuel filter replaced, your car will return to normal 100 percent. There will not be any lingering effects to adding diesel to that gas engine."
There's no real damage because filling up with diesel fuel is nearly the same as filling up with water -- it's not combustible, meaning it doesn't cause flames to start the engine.
This is the problem Kristina Conner May, who commented on our 12News page, encountered when she got home and couldn't start her car.
She says Raceway will only reimburse towing and mechanic costs if the mechanic can prove the damage came from diesel fuel.
Cortez said this could cost $350 to $500.
Despite the low gas prices, it's money some southeast Texans might not have after this holiday season.
Raceway says all its pumps are fully operational now.
