A former Nederland High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student was sentenced Monday to six years in prison.
Reagan Hawkins, 38, pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student.
Hawkins will also have to register as a sex offender.
The victim declined to give a victim impact statement.
According to court documents, Hawkins began a relationship with a female student from his debate class in 2009. At the time the girl was 14.
Hawkins was arrested July 2011.
