A former Beaumont city council woman who served for over two decades has passed away.
Doctor Lulu Smith served the Ward 1 seat from 1987 until 2007.
12 News HD spoke to former Mayor Guy Goodson who says he served with Dr. Smith for 13 years.
Goodson says it was a privilege to serve with Dr. Smith, he added that she was not only a great city council person but she was just a force in the city.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Broussard's Mortuary.
