PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Five candidates are now in the running for Port Arthur mayor.
Incumbent Derrick Freeman faces four challengers in May's election: Thurman Bartie, Willie Lewis, Jr., Charles "Chuck" Vincent and Lowra A. Harrison.
Voters will decide on their next mayor in May this year.
Freeman also works in real estate in addition to his role as mayor. Bartie is a former Justice of the peace who is now a disaster case manager. Lewis is a former Port Arthur city councilman and is now retired.
Election day is May 4, 2019.
