BEAUMONT, Texas — Fertitta Realty confirmed to 12News ALDI will no longer be opening a Beaumont location.
The supermarket chain was set to open a store in the space that used to be home to Gander Mountain off of Eastex Freeway.
ALDI responded to 12News via email regarding the Beaumont location by saying in part, "Unfortunately, we do not have any details to disclose at this time."
ALDI was named 2018 retailer of the year by Supermaket News according to a September 2018 news release from ALDI.
The first ALDI opened in Germany in 1961, and the chain now has more than 1,600 stores across 35 states in the U.S. and employs over 25,000 people according to its website.
