Escape from the Liberty County Jail

A spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that Jail personnel reported that inmate Phillip Henry Freeman has escaped.

He was last seen working in the kitchen area of the Jail at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Sheriff’s lead Investigator Sgt. Josh Cummins, Freeman had recently been convicted of Burglary of a Habitation and was due to be transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections within a few days. Also, according to Sgt. Cummins, Freeman has no record of past violence although he does have one prior arrest for resisting arrest.

Phillip Henry Freeman is described as a white male, 38 years of age, brown hair and blue eyes, 6’0”, 175 lbs. and wearing a brown jump suit similar to nurses “scrubs”.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to watch for this escapee and to report any information to the Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867 where you can receive a cash reward and your identity will remain confidential.
