Woman arrested in connection with the shooting death of man in Silsbee

On October 18th at 9:15 p.m., the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2855 Holly Hill Drive in Silsbee to investigate a reported shooting.

SILSBEE, Texas — A Silsbee woman is behind bars after being arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office who suspect her involvement in a mans murder.

On October 18th at 9:15 p.m., the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2855 Holly Hill Drive in Silsbee to investigate a reported shooting according to a press release.

There deputies found the body of a man later identified as 33-year-old Granville Owen Dennis Jr. of Woodville.

Dennis was found dead from a single gunshot wound according to Sheriff Mark Davis.

Amy Sue Hammond, 30, was reportedly taken from the scene by detectives for further investigation.

Hammond was later arrested sometime after midnight Saturday and charged in connection to Dennis’ death according to Sheriff Davis.

She has been arraigned by Hardin County Justice of the Peace Melissa Minton, and is currently being held in the county jail under a $750K bond for Murder.

Detectives are continuing to process evidence collected at the scene in hopes of determining a motive for the shooting according to Sheriff Davis.
