PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A woman accused of conspiracy to kill her Port Arthur Police Officer husband has been found guilty and has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Trial began this week for Kelly Daws, the ex-wife of a former Port Arthur Police Officer who was stabbed while off duty in his apartment at Willow Lakes Apartments in Port Arthur.
12News previously reported a probable cause affidavit confirms 44-year-old Kelly Daws admitted during an interview with police that she had multiple conversations with her boyfriend, 48-year-old Joal Morgan Riley, of Woodville, about her need to get rid of her then soon to be ex-husband.

Previous reports also say Daws admitted that she knew of the impending attack ahead of time and that Riley had been surveilling the officer.
Riley pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2018 and was sentenced to seven years.
Riley will become eligible for parole in June 2020. If Riley is not granted parole, his projected release date is December 26, 2023, but a release is not scheduled at this time.
