WANTED: Lumberton Police searching for Dollar Tree burglar

This man caught on surveillance cameras allegedly entered the store in the early morning hours and broke into the store's safe using a grinder.

LUMBERTON, Texas — Lumberton Police are asking for the community's help in finding the man who broke into the Dollar Tree.

The burglary happened at the Dollar Tree in the 700 block of North Main Street May 28, police said in a Facebook post.

A man allegedly entered the store in the early morning hours and broke into the store's safe using a grinder.

Sergeant Kenneth Powell said on he used a pry bar to break into the store.

"I don't think this is his first time because he knows exactly what he's doing and where to go," Sgt. Powell said.

Kyndal Powell works at the Gypsy Rose Boutique across the street.

She said she was shocked when she heard the news.

"It's concerning being that we are right next door, but I feel like we have to continue to look out for one another," Powell said.

Mark Turner owns the Cake Turners bakery next door to the boutique. He said the burglary doesn't phase him.

"It really doesn't. Our police force is very good around here their response time has been excellent," said Turner.

Police said they are wondering if the same suspect is responsible for break-ins at another Dollar Tree in Beaumont, and a Dollar General in Fred.

"This is somebody that may want to brag about what they did, somebody out there knows something," Sgt. Powell said.

Anyone who knows anything about who committed the burglary or recognizes the suspect in the photos should contact Sgt. K. Powell at kpowell@lumbertonpd.com or call (409) 755-3400.
