Vidor man arrested for evading, failure to identify while trespassing at restaurant

Officers received a call just before 4 a.m. about two people possibly breaking into Café Del Rio.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A Vidor man was arrested after Beaumont police responded to reports of a possible burglary at a restaurant early Saturday morning. 

Police received a call just before 4 a.m. about two individuals possibly breaking into Café Del Rio located at 2830 I-10 East. 

When officers arrived, they discovered a man and a woman in the restaurant's tented patio area.

The suspect, identified as Tommy Jones, 25, of Vidor, attempted to run, but was caught by police behind a nearby hotel.

Jones was arrested for evading and failing to identify. He was taken to the Jefferson County jail.

Police say no evidence of a burglary was found. 

The woman was identified and released. 

Officers are still investigating and additional charges may be pending.
