TYLER COUNTY, Texas — The Tyler County Sheriff's Office is looking for two suspects in an alleged stolen vehicle after a chase in Tyler County.

On Monday, January 29, 2024, around 3:00 am, Tyler County deputies were patrolling in Spurger. The deputies were told that two men were attempting to steal a vehicle from a residence on FM 1013 near FM 2992, according to a TCSO news release.

While deputies were on their way to the residence, they learned that the homeowner confronted the men and they fled in a dark colored pickup with loud mud-grip tires, the release states.

The pickup headed west on FM 1013.

A deputy in Spurger found a vehicle matching the description traveling in that direction.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle as it approached the intersection of FM 1013 and Highway 69, according to the release.

The pickup turned right onto Highway 69 and started driving faster, refusing to stop for the deputy.

The chase continued on Highway 69 and the speeds got up to around 100-110 MPH, according to the release.

As the chase got closer to the Woodville city limits, police officers deployed a spike tire system deflator just south of the city limits to try and stop the pickup.

The suspect vehicle turned right onto Seneca Road, back towards FM 1013, reaching up to around 80 MPH, according to the release.

The chase continued down Seneca Road until the pickup turned down an oil pump-site road ramming through a locked pipe-gate, the release states.

The pickup entered the pump-site and made an U-turn abruptly and began driving towards the deputy's patrol unit aggressively, according to the release.

The suspect's pickup and the deputy collided and the the front right quarter panel of the deputy's car was damaged as well as the side door of the pickup, according to the release.

The pickup continued driving on Seneca Road.

As the deputy continued to chase the pickup, he noticed his engine overheating and had to stop pursuing the pickup, the release said.

Deputies learned during the chase that the pickup was reported stolen out of Bronson in Sabine County, according to the release.

Other deputies and officers from the Woodville Police Department were unable to find the pickup.

Law enforcement are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact the Tyler County Sheriff's Office at 409-283-2172 or Crime Stoppers at 936-969-TIPS.
