WOODVILLE, Texas — Tyler County deputies are investigating the discovery, Saturday, of human remains at a home near the B A Steinhagen Reservoir in the eastern part of the county.
Deputies were sent to a home along County Road 4120 on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 and found what they say appears to be a human jawbone, according to a news release from the Tyler County Sheriff's Office.
A search was made of what deputies described as a "historical residence and property" but no other remains were found the release said.
Deputies interviewed the homeowner, family members, neighbors and witnesses about the discovery.
Investigators are also checking with cemeteries in the area dating back to the 1800s the release said.
The bone will be sent for forensic analysis by the Texas Department of Public Safety,
