Two people are in custody charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

PORT NECHES, Texas — Two men are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Port Neches Police Chief Cheri Griffith says around 12:23 a.m. on December 11,2023 two men got out of a car and got into an altercation with two people walking on the road. 

Two people were walking on Llano Street and Ave D in Port Neches when Austin Peterson, 19, and Joey James Mink, 18, approached them in a car. 

Griffith says they got out of their car and got into an altercation.

She said the men had weapons, but the police department is not releasing the information about the weapons at this time.

Griffith said as Peterson and Mink left the scene they attempted to run over the victims.

The victims had non life-threatening injuries.
