BEAUMONT, Texas — A 34-year-old Beaumont man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for robbing a Beaumont gas station at gunpoint and firing a shot at the clerk.
Preston Keith Addison, Jr. was convicted of robbing a gas station as well as firing a shot at the clerk, who was only spared due to the bullet proof glass he stood behind.
Because of previous convictions of aggravated robbery, Addison faced 15 years to life in prison.
Addison was sentenced to 32 years in prison on Wednesday.
On Thursday September 15, 2022 at 12:22 a.m., patrol officers with the Beaumont Police Department were called to 1610 Interstate 10 E, ”The Place”, a Chevron gas station, in reference to an aggravated robbery in progress, according to the probable cause affidavit.
By the time officers arrived at the store, all three suspects had already fled.
Police later interviewed the store clerk. He told them that the three men entered the store with masks on, two of them brandishing a handgun.
One of the man, later identified as Addison Jr., "intentionally and and knowingly fired one shot at the victim, hitting the bulletproof glass", according to the probable cause affidavit.
Addison along with a second suspect identified, later as Kevin Michael Hall, were reportedly able to steal over $6 thousand.
The store clerk was later able to identify Hall in a photo lineup as one of the men involved, because he reportedly entered the store just an hour prior without his mask.
Addison was later indicted on Nov 9, 2022.
The other suspect, Kevin Hall, stood trial starting on November 4 for aggravated robbery. That trial ended with jury unable to come to a decision.
Hall's trial has not yet been reset, according to court officials.
