BEAUMONT, Texas — A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for robbing a Beaumont homeowner in 2015.
Police say a man was working on a garden at his home in the 800 block of Goliad Street on April 23, 2015 when Henrique Alberto Rivas allegedly walked up to the man and robbed him at gunpoint, according to court documents.
Rivas was charged with aggravated robbery and faced up to 20 years in prison, but his sentenced was enhanced due to prior convictions.
The trial began Monday in the 252nd District Court before Judge Raquel West at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
