BEAUMONT, Texas — Testimony began Tuesday morning in the trial of a 57-year-old Kountze man accused of sexually assaulting a child.
A jury was selected on Monday, before the trial began in Jefferson County's Criminal District Court before Judge John Stevens.
Raul Prado, 57, of Kountze, is charged with sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child.
He is being represented by Jared Gilthorpe. Jefferson County prosecutor Mike Laird is representing the state.
Prado was indicted on the charges in July 2021.
He also faces two sexual assault charges and a prohibited sexual conduct charge related to another victim. A trial date in that case has not yet been set.
