BEAUMONT, Texas — A routine traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Major Drive in Beaumont took a turn Thursday evening, after a Jefferson County Sheriffs Office Deputy noticed something off and called in a K-9

After arriving, the dog showed a positive odor response which lead officers to search the vehicle and find three bags of ecstasy weighing about one pound according to the JCSO.

After finding the hidden drugs, which detectives think may also contain methamphetamines, they arrested the driver of the vehicle, Kalvin Murphy, 34, of Gulfport, Mississippi for possession of a controlled substance PG-1 over 400 grams and was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

The pills have been submitted for further lab analysis.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
