BEAUMONT, Texas — A traffic stop based on several traffic violations resulted in a large meth seizure by Jefferson County Deputies last week.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Narcotics Interdiction Division pulled over a BMW on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, along Interstate 10 near Brooks Rd, after seeing the driver make several traffic violations, according to the sheriff's office.

After deputies spoke to the driver, Audivier Martinez-Gomez, 34, of Mexico, he gave them permission to search the car.

While searching, deputies found about 30 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine in multiple zip-lock bags, as well as some THC edibles, according to the sheriff's office.

Martinez-Gomez was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

He is no longer in the Jefferson County jail after being transferred into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration are assisting deputies with the investigation and prosecution of the case.
