TYLER COUNTY, Texas — A Town Bluff man has been charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a late evening shooting that took place on April 18.
Cody Knight, 33, of the Town Bluff area, was charged for shooting a Tyler County man, before midnight according to the Tyler County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies responded to the shooting at a residence on County Road 4770, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Houston and remains in critical condition.
Deputies were able to get a search and arrest warrant from Justice of the Peace Mike Hughes after finding evidence and speaking with witnesses at the scene.
Deputies executed the search warrant today around 5:00 a.m. at a residence on County Road 4400 in the Town Bluff area, where they located Knight.
During the search, deputies located and collected a .22 caliber rifle as evidence.
Knight was taken to the Tyler County jail and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
His bond was set at $500,000 by Justice of the Peace Mike Hughes.
Officials from the sheriff's office and the Tyler County District Attorney's Office are still collecting more evidence and information.
