Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives began investigating in March 2019 after they were called to a motel on North Martin Luther King Highway in Lake Charles about a 14-year-old girl who had been reported as a runaway the release said.

Detectives found the teen in a room at the motel with Mariah C. Miller, 24, of Iowa, the release said.

Miller, Citizen and Tompkins were all already in the Calcasieu Correctional Center on unrelated charges when they were charged in the human trafficking case, the release said.

Landry was arrested on June 17, 2019.

Miller, Citizen and Landry were all charged with human trafficking in the case while Tompkins was charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile the release said.
