Reports of active shooter at Delta Downs determined to be false alarm by police

Around 2 p.m. Monday deputies responded to a call about a possible active shooter at the casino.

VINTON, La. — Reports of threat of active shooter at Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino were deemed to be false.

The false alarm call is now under investigation by Calcasieu Parish deputies.

Around 2 p.m. Monday deputies responded to a call about a possible active shooter at the casino.

The Vinton Police Department placed Vinton Elementary, Vinton Middle School, and Vinton High School under a precautionary lockdown. All lockdowns have now been lifted, according to KPLC.

From a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office news release:

CPSO deputies are currently on scene at Delta Downs Casino in Vinton. The investigation has revealed there is no active threat at the location, nor was there a shooting that occurred. Earlier this afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m. CPSO deputies were dispatched to the location after Vinton Police Department advised they received a call in reference to a possible active shooter at the location. CPSO deputies and officers with the Vinton Police Department arrived on scene and immediately began clearing the area, at which time no threat was found. CPSO detectives will continue the investigation.
