CALCASIEU PARISH — A driver fled into Louisiana after a traffic stop on I-10 in Orange County around noon on Christmas Eve.
A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper on patrol on I-10 near mile marker 871 attempted to pull over a Toyota sedan which was speeding, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.
The driver, Jiakang Chen, 23, of Houston, did not stop and drove right into Louisiana. Chen was taken into custody after he stopped his vehicle near mile marker 11 in Louisiana.
Chen was charged with evading arrest and was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Jail. He is awating extradition back to Texas on those charges, Davis said.
Davis said the incident is still under investigation.
