Teens in stolen car lead Beaumont Police on chase through city and into Chambers County

The chase began after the driver fled from a traffic stop in Beaumont's west end.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police have arrested three teen boys following a chase through Beaumont and into Chambers County in a stolen car early Tuesday morning.

At about 1:39 a.m. Tuesday morning, a Beaumont officer spotted a stolen Nissan Sentra headed west in the 8300 block of Phelan Blvd and pulled the car over in the 1000 block of Pinchback Rd, according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

When the driver pulled, over a passenger, Brycelyn Nelson, 17, got out of the car and was taken into custody but the driver then sped off, starting what became a lengthy chase.

Nelson was later arrested on outstanding warrants.

The driver then led officers on a chase through Beaumont and eventually into Chambers County where the chase ended and officers arrested the 16-year-old driver for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, according to the news release.

Two other 16-year-olds were also in the car when the chase ended.

One was arrested on a "juvenile directive to apprehend" warrant and the other 16-year-old was released to a guardian.
