Arrested suspect's mobile phone helps identify second suspect in fatal shooting of Beaumont store clerk

After arresting the first suspect hours after the fatal shooting police seized his phone and got a warrant to search it.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Information found on the mobile phone of a suspect arrested hours after the fatal shooting of a Beaumont store clerk helped police identify the second suspect who is still at large.

Police say that Keandre Robinson, 19, of Beaumont, and Larry Nathaniel Hagan, 26, of Needville, were involved in the armed robbery of a store in the city's north end. Police say surveillance video captured the robbery.

Store clerk, Sheikh Abir-Hossain, 34, of Beaumont, was fatally shot during the Dec. 29, 2023, robbery.

Police arrested Robinson hours after the robbery when he was spotted leaving a home just down the block from the scene of the crime, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Officers arrested him about four blocks away near the intersection of Pope and Averill Streets according to the affidavit.

After arresting Robinson police seized his phone and got a warrant to search it. They found a phone number and nickname they believed to be the second suspect and were able to link the number to Hagan according to the affidavit.

A source who knows Hagan identified him from the surveillance video and confirmed to police that he goes by the nickname and still uses the phone number.

A murder warrant was issued by Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Naomi Doyle, who set Hagan's bond at $1 million.

Police believe Hagan is in the Houston area.

Both men could be seen holding handguns in the video and police say Robinson fired the fatal shots before stealing some cigarettes. No other items or cash were stolen, according to police.
