Man leads Beaumont Police on chase with teen runaway in vehicle, suspect arrested

The 16-year-old girl was reported as a runaway in Nederland on Tuesday afternoon. She was believed to be with a 21-year-old man in Beaumont.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police officers were led on a chase after assisting Nederland Police in locating a runaway teen Wednesday afternoon.

The 16-year-old girl was reported as a runaway on Tuesday afternoon. She was believed to be with a 21-year-old man in Beaumont, according to Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow. 

Around 1:30 p.m., police attempted to approach the house they were believed to be in. The suspect and the teen then left in a grey pickup truck and led police on a chase.

The chase ended near West Cardinal Drive and Rolfe Christopher Drive, which is near the Lamar University soccer fields. 

Charges are pending for the 21-year-old, who was arrested, according to Nederland Police Chief Gary Porter.
