A 43-year-old woman was fatally shot by Beaumont officers Friday morning just before 10 a.m. when police attempted to serve an arrest and search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Palm Ave, according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

Beaumont Police narcotics investigators were being assisted by a SWAT team when they served the search and arrest warrant at about 9:45 a.m., according to police.

Victoria Meza, 43, who was the target of the warrant fired shots at officers, fired multiple shots at officers as they served the warrant, according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

In response officers fired their weapons at Meza, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Beaumont EMS medics, according to the release.

One officer received a minor injury when the ballistic shield they were carrying was struck by gunfire.

Two police vehicles were also struck by Meza's gunfire, police said.

One dog was killed and another dog was injured during the incident, according to police. The injured dog is in the custody of animal services.
