Seven indicted in beating of man at Beaumont gas station, police still seeking person of interest

BEAUMONT, Texas — Seven Southeast Texas men have been indicted this week in the brutal beating of a Conroe man at a Beaumont gas station more than a week ago.

A Jefferson County grand jury, on Tuesday, indicted seven of eight men who have been arrested in the case.

Dakyrian Ray Beaty. 20 of Orange,  Deion Tyrell Brooks, 27, Carl Chopane, 22, Jaylen Foxall, 22, Jameel Petry, 19, Ellis Thomas Tatum, Jr., 33 and Michaeal Tyrone Williams III, 26 all of Beaumont, were all indicted on Tuesday.

All of them were indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and are each currently being held in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on $250,000 bonds. The charge is a second degree felony.

Williams was also indicted on an aggravated robbery charge which is a first degree felony and has a bond set at $250,000.

Jamaal Keith Petry, 22, of Beaumont, has also been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and is currently being held in the Orange County Jail unrelated charges.

Beaumont Police are still looking for a newly named person of interest and have cleared another man in connection with the attack and beating of a man at a Beaumont gas station more than a week ago.

Police now say they want to speak to Victor Green, 18, of Beaumont, as a "person of interest" in connection with the attack that happened early on the morning of Sunday, October 1, 2023.

There is no warrant for Green according to police on Wednesday morning.

Police are still actively searching for Tyree Simon, 17 and Charles Johnson, 20, both of Beaumont, in connection with the attack. Both are wanted for aggravated assault.

Previously police had issued a warrant for Cameron Guilbeaux, 21, of Beaumont, but investigators have spoken with him and have now cleared him as a suspect police said Wednesday morning.

The warrant that had been issued for Guilbeaux has been rescinded police said.

The fight happened on Sunday, Oct. 1 at a Shell gas station off of Concord Road in Beaumont.

Police responded to the scene around 3:29 a.m., Sunday, after receiving calls stating a man was on the ground bleeding from his head, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.

The 22-year-old Conroe man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The victim was able to speak to police the same day of the incident.
