Shooter says 47-year-old Vidor man 'charged' him before fatal Tuesday night shooting

Police responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Alamo Street near the intersection of Alamo and South Main Street at about 10:30 p.m.

VIDOR — Police in Vidor are investigating after a man shot and killed a 47-year-old Vidor man who he said "charged at him" late Tuesday night.

Jason McLain, 47, of Vidor was fatally shot in the 100 block of Alamo Street near the intersection of Alamo and South Main Street at about 10:30 p.m. according to a release from the Vidor Police Department.

A man who called police told them he approached the McLain and a woman who were arguing in the street according to the release.

The man told police he shot McLain after he "charged at him" the release said.

Police secured the scene, near the carwash at the intersection of South main and Alamo Streets, when they arrived and medics with Acadian Ambulance pronounced McLain dead at the scene according to the release.

The man who fired the fatal shots is cooperating with investigators.
