Police investigate overnight death of 2 men in Port Arthur

Witnesses told a 12News crew at the scene that they heard shots fired at the time.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur Police are investigating the deaths of two men early Thursday morning.

Police were sent to the scene at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, according to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso.

Two men died in the incident, Duriso confirmed. The men have been identified as Alfred Glenn Scott Jr, 22, of Port Arthur, Texas and Corneileous Jarod Jones, 24, of Cypress.

Police ask that residents in the area of 6th St and 6th Ave to check their surveillance cameras for anything suspicious from midnight to 2 a.m. Thursday. Residents may upload video here.

One body was found at the base of a stairway leading to the door of a garage apartment.

Witnesses told a 12News crew at the scene that they heard shots fired at the time.

Port Arthur detectives were on the scene in the 3400 block of 6th St for several hours.

The two men were pronounced dead at the scene which was at a garage apartment, according to Jefferson County Precinct Seven Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett.

Autopsies on the two men, one of whom is a Port Arthur resident, have been ordered, according to Judge Burnett.

Police have not released any other information.
