BEAUMONT, Texas — A Port Arthur man was indicted Wednesday on capital murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old Houston man at a Beaumont motel.
DeMarcus Micah Williams, 20, of Port Arthur was indicted Wednesday on capital murder charges in the death of Jose Manuel Valles-Santos, 27, who was found in the parking lot of the Days inn in the 2100 block of North 11th Street in March.
Williams was also indicted on aggravated robbery charges, as well as evading arrest charges.
According to court documents, Williams is accused of robbing and injuring a woman outside Tinseltown movie theater in Beaumont on September 18, 2018.
The documents said Williams also ran from police after the alleged robbery.
Police say Valles-Santos was leaving the Days Inn on his way to work when Williams walked up, argued with him, shot him and took his truck.
The incident was caught on the security cameras at Days Inn according to a probable cause affidavit.
His co-workers and his employer were also at the motel when he was killed.
Police spotted Valles-Santos’ stolen truck a short while later at the intersection of St. Helena and Gill. A man matching the suspect description was seen walking nearby.
Officers say the man, later identified as Williams, had a gun in his hand and began to run when they approached. Police said Williams threw the gun down as he ran.

Friday, May 24th, 2019 at 5:58 am, officers responded to Days Inn, located in the 2100 block of N 11th Street in reference to reported gunshots.
Officers found a deceased Hispanic male and a wrecked vehicle.
Officers learned the victim was in the parking lot, about to leave for work, when a black male tried to rob the victim with a handgun.
The two argued and the suspect shot the victim and took his truck. The suspect struck a vehicle in the parking lot and fled north bound.
Responding officers located the stolen vehicle at St Helena and Gill.
A male matching the suspect description was observed walking away from the truck. The suspect had a gun in his hand and ran from officers.
The suspect threw the gun while fleeing and officers caught him near Leight and St Helena.
The suspect was identified as De’marcus Micah Williams, a 19 year old Port Arthur resident.
Williams was transported to the Beaumont Police Department to speak with investigators.
The deceased male has been identified as Jose Manuel Valles-Santos, a 27 year old Houston man.
De’marcus was arrested for Capital Murder.
