Police seek man they say tried to cash forged check at Beaumont credit union

Police say he dressed in a shirt and tie in an attempt to try to fool tellers.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Police in Beaumont are looking for a man they say attempted to fool tellers at a Beaumont credit union with a fake passport and nice shirt and tie.

Nearly a month ago on Monday, March 13, 2023, police say that a man wearing a shirt and tie attempted to cash a forged check at Education First Federal Credit Union on Eastex Freeway in Beaumont according to a Beaumont Police Department Facebook post.

Police say he dressed nicer in an attempt to try to fool tellers and that often busting someone in a case like this can help lead police to a larger criminal organization.

The photos released by police are the best quality available.
