GROVES, Texas — Groves Police have confirmed to 12News that 19-year-old Vonzelle Hall, of Port Arthur, has surrendered.
Groves Police previously obtained a warrant for Hall's arrest for 1st-degree murder in the shooting death of Jesus Garcia.
The Groves Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting that left a teen dead early Saturday morning.
The victim has been identified as Jesus Garcia, 18, of Port Arthur, according to Groves Interim City Marshal Chris Robin.
Just before 2 a.m., Groves officers responded to the 5300 block of Gulfway Dr. after receiving reports that someone was shot near Beverly Place Apartments.
When police got there, they found Garcia suffering from a gunshot wound.
Garcia was immediately taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Groves police detectives are actively pursing leads, including witness accounts and surveillance videos, according to a news release from the police department.
Police say that further details will be released as they become available.
