ORANGE, Texas — The Orange Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man and a woman who stole a pair of new motorcycles from a dealership in Orange early Thursday morning.
Orange Police say the masked woman, who was caught on surveillance video, made an unsuccessful solo-attempt Wednesday morning at about 6 a.m. to steal a motorcycle from Orange Powersports, at 3500 Interstate 10, but police showed up as she was trying to push the bike off the lot. She ran away as officers arrived and wasn't caught.
"The officer flashed his light, and she jumped off the bike. It was a lady and ran and jumped over our back gate," said Powersports General Manager Dennis Sparks.
Less than 24 hours later, at about 3 a.m. Thursday, police say she came back with a male accomplice, was again caught on surveillance video, showed up at the motorcycle dealership armed with crowbars.
They were able to pry open a side door, grab a set of keys and make off with a $13,0000 Honda CB1000RAP as well as a $7300 Honda CBR500. The thieves fled just moments before officers arrived at the dealership and have not been caught.
"On our video we saw them going back for 40 minutes and siphoned gas and had rolled them out the gate about four minutes before police were able to come in," Sparks said. "If the bikes aren't found, we have to pay for them. It's a major setback."
Sparks says he was shocked they came back a second time and says when he heard what happened at Cowboy Harley, they immediately reached out to see if it could be connected.
"I have already talked to the guys at Cowboy's in Beaumont. Definitely from their footage and looking at ours it looks like the same people. It looks like they may have one in custody already," he said.
Police are still looking for any information that can help identify the suspects.
Monday morning, Beaumont Police responded a break-in at the Cowboy Harley dealership.
Police haven't confirmed that these cases are related but owners from Powersports and Cowboy Harley say it looks like the same people are responsible from both of their security footage.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
