One in custody, no injuries after stolen car crashes into bedroom of home in Beaumont's north end

When officers and firefighters arrived they started to search for the children but quickly learned that they had already been picked up for school.

BEAUMONT — One juvenile is in custody and Beaumont Police are investigating after a stolen car crashed into a home in the north end of Beaumont Thursday morning.

Police received a report of a major wreck at about 7:45 a.m. and initially were told that there were several children were inside the bedroom that the car crashed into according to Officer Haley Morrow of the Beaumont Police Department.

When officers and firefighters arrived they started to search for the children but quickly learned that they had already been picked up for school moments before the inicident Morrow said.

No one was injured when the Mercedes, which Morrow said was stolen two nights ago from an apartment complex in the west end of Beaumont, crashed through the bedroom wall.

Almost all of the car was inside the home after the wreck and at least two people ran away from the scene according to Morrow.

A neighbor told 12News that he saw the car backed into a driveway parked next door to the home with three teenaged boys standing around it as he got into his truck to leave for work.

While the neighbor turned his back to get in his truck he heard the car take off.

He told 12News he then saw it come out of the driveway, make a U-turn, crash through a couple of trash cans, travel across the yard and crash into the home.

After the teens ran away from the scene the neighbor drove south down Spencer and found one of the teens walking down the street.

After the teen admitted to him that he was in the car the neighbor told him to get in his truck and he took him back to the scene and turned him over to police.

The neighbor and his wife then helped search the bedroom thinking the children may have been in the bedroom.

The neighbor told 12News the car was completely inside the children's bedroom.

A woman, who told officers she was the aunt of the teen in custody, arrived on the scene and berated the teen for being involved when officers let her speak to him.
