NEWTON, Texas — The Tyler County Sheriff's Office along with the Newton Police Department and Newton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for making threats that referenced killing several Tyler County residents.
On Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024, the Tyler County Sheriff’s Office received a report about 19-year-old Cameron Hartsfield of Newton making the threats in a rap song that was posted to Instagram, according to a Tyler County Sheriff's Office news release.
Deputies were able to get the video of the song with the threats in it. The names of the residents were written on a dresser.
Hartsfield was previously arrested on April 27th, 2023 in Woodville for a shooting that took place at an after-prom party shooting in Jasper.
He was currently out of jail, on bond, for the shooting of several minors at the party.
Deputies worked with the Tyler County District Attorney’s Office and got an arrest warrant for Hartsfield from Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Tina Self, according to the release.
Tyler County deputies went to Newton County and with the help of NPD and NCSO they arrested Hartsfield.
Hartsfield appeared before Newton County Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Mike Greer and was brought to the Tyler County Jail.
He is charged with felony terroristic threat.
