DEWEYVILLE, Texas — The Newton County Sheriff's office is investigating what they say is possibly foul play after finding a woman dead in her driveway last Friday.

At around 5 p.m. on August, 23 Newton County deputies drove out to a home at 910 County Road 4203 in Deweyville, Texas for a welfare check according to Sheriff Robert Burby.

After arriving at the home, deputies reportedly saw an unresponsive woman lying in the driveway who was later pronounced dead after EMS arrived.

NCSO says that the cause of death was not immediately known, so they preserved the scene as well as collected items to assist in the determination of what may have contributed to her death.

Newton County Constable Precinct 4 Howie Wonders says that the woman has been identified as Cierra Westbrook, and it appears she suffered some form of blunt trauma.

Westbrook has been sent for a preliminary autopsy, and as of right now NCSO is classifying the case as an "unattended death with possible foul play" according to Sheriff Burby.

After the autopsy is completed, further details will be released according to the NCSO.

This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
