NEWTON, Texas — The Newton County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged a man suspected of the murder of 16-year-old Jerome Rambo at the Elam Event Center back in November.
The man was initially charged with tampering/fabricating evidence and deadly conduct on November 27.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office is waiting for the man to be arraigned before naming him according to Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby.
He was eventually tracked down and arrested in a different state, and is now pending extradition back to Texas according to a press release from the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
Rambo was shot and killed at a party at the Elam Event Center just east of Newton at around 4 a.m. Sunday, November 10.
Deputies arrived just minutes after the shooting, but were sadly unable to save Rambo's life who later died at Jasper Memorial Hospital at around 5 a.m.
The Newton County Sheriff's Office says that they are still actively working this case and have identified other persons of interest and witnesses.
