Newton County man arrested in connection with alleged family violence, other unrelated warrants

He was also wanted on three Edwards County warrants as well as two Orange County warrants.

NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — A 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a family violence case and several other unrelated felony warrants has been taken into custody.

Kaiden Stoma, 23, was arrested by deputies with the Newton County Precinct Four Constable's Office with help from Orange County Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday afternoon in Orange County according to ta Facebook post by the constable's office.

He was also wanted on three Edwards County warrants as well as two Orange County warrants.

Stoma fled the scene of a family violence call in his girlfriend's Ford Explorer around 5 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, according to Newton County Precinct Four Constable Howie Wonders.

The girlfriend's Explorer was found abandoned and returned to her according to Wonders.

"While interviewing the victim, his child's mother, I spotted Stoma driving down CR 4156 towards his girlfriend's residence but as soon as he saw me waiting for him, he threw the vehicle in reverse and sped away," Stoma said in a Facebook post.

Stoma was last scene evading arrest with a motor vehicle heading East on Highway 12 in his girlfriend's black 2021 Ford Explorer Wonders wrote.

"All I needed was to get his side of the story but Stoma, knowing he has 3 warrants out of Edwards County and 2 felony warrants out of Orange County for assaultive offenses, didn't feel like sticking around or pulling over," Wonders said.
