VIDOR — A neighbor describes the sounds of an argument followed by gunfire that resulted in the death of a 47-year-old Vidor man late Tuesday night
Sherry Roberts, who lives with four young children next to the carwash where Jason McLain was mortally wounded, didn't see what happened but heard it all around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
"They had a confrontation at the carwash. There was a couple hollering and screaming. Next thing I know I heard a round of gun shots," Roberts recalled Wednesday afternoon.
McLain died at the scene in the 100 block of Alamo Street near the intersection of Alamo and South Main Street according to a release from the Vidor Police Department.
A man who called police told them he approached McLain and a woman who were arguing in the street according to the release.
The man, who is cooperating with investigators, told police he shot McLain after he "charged at him" the release said.
Roberts told 12News that the shooter has been a neighbor of hers for many years and has known him since he was a child,
She was surprised by the shooting and hopes things settle down soon.
The incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made at this time.
