BEAUMONT, Texas — The Nederland man arrested this week in connection with the armed robbery of a Beaumont convenience store was paroled months ago after serving time for bank robbery.
Tarrell Donald Nowlin, 52, of Nederland, was arrested by Beaumont Police officers hours after robbing the store on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 16, 2024.
Police say the van he was driving was also involved in an aggravated robbery on the south side of Beaumont on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.
They also believe he may have carjacked a vehicle in Nederland earlier on Tuesday.
He has not yet been charged in the Saturday robbery or the carjacking and is still in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He's being held on a $300,000 bond and a parole violation with no bond listed.
Nowlin is currently on parole after serving just over five years of a 30-year sentence for a 2017 bank robbery in Montgomery County according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
He was paroled less than six months ago in August 2023, according to TDCJ records.
When Nowlin robbed the bank in 2017 he was on parole after being locked up on three six-year sentences for three robberies in Harris County and a three-year sentence for forgery in Walker County, according to the TDCJ. He was paroled in June 2015.
