PORT ARTHUR, Texas — The Port Arthur Police Department is continuing to investigate a Sunday shooting that injured two children and three adults.
Two children remain at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston as of Monday morning and three adults have all been released from the hospital according Police Chief Tim Duriso.
Port Arthur Police Sergeant Angel Bush tells 12News the children are in stable condition.
Investigators have two suspects in mind, who they say walked into the backyard of a home during a party in the 4400 block of Griffing Dr. and opened fire according to Duriso.
Police say the victims knew the suspects who allegedly shot them and they are not relatives or neighbors and that the shooting is not a random act.
Investigators do not know what type of vehicle the suspects fled in Duriso said.
Police were called at 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023 with reports of multiple people shot at the home.
"I hope those people that got shot they're okay. I don't know necessarily what happened. I just heard, I heard the gunshots go off," said neighbor Lacey Laririt.
Laririt has lived in the Griffing Park neighborhood for two years. This is the first time she's heard gunfire.
Her aunt, Deanna Hooker, is familiar with situations like these.
"Heard gun shots, so you know, i'm from Houston. I'm familiar with this. You know and so at first I didn't think nothing about it and then all of a sudden I seen the ambulances coming down here and then you know the police cars," she said.
If you have any information about the shooting, you are encouraged to call PAPD or contact Crime Stoppers to leave an anonymous tip.
"You went out there not thinking straight clearly and you injured some kids that could have been possibly killed, at the time of the shooting. You know if it was my kid, or somebody in my family that did that. I would turn them in," Sgt. Bush said.
"My heart just went out to the mothers, or fathers, or family, or anybody this happened to. That it's, just, it's tragic," Hooker said.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
