The mother of a Beaumont woman who was fatally shot along with her newborn baby at a Beaumont apartment complex in June has retained an attorney and filed a wrongful death lawsuit in the case.
Mindy Morris, who was with her daughter Kera Teel the night of her death and witnessed the crime, has hired the Ferguson Law Firm of Beaumont to represent her in the wrongful death suit according to a release from the Ferguson Law Firm.
The suit names the owners and operators of The Sienna Apartment Homes as defendants in the case.
Attorney Paul "Chip" Ferguson alleges that the complex has “a long and notorious history of encouraging criminal conduct on its grounds due to its inexcusable failure to provide adequate security and protection" according to the release.
The suit alleges that the complex is in a high-crime area and that broken security gates allowed easy access to the complex.
Andrew Teel, Kera Teel's husband, and their one-year-old daughter are currently represented by Jefferson Fisher and David Fisher while Teel's father is represented by David Bernsen.
