NEDERLAND, Texas — The suspect who led Beaumont police officers on a chase after assisting Nederland Police in locating a runaway teen has been identified.
Nicholas Barton, 22, was arrested by Beaumont Police officers on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 for harboring a runaway and evading arrest and brought to the Jefferson County Corrections Facility.
A 16-year-old girl was reported as a runaway on Monday, December 11, 2023 and she was believed to be with a 21-year-old man in Beaumont, according to Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow.
Around 1:30 p.m., police attempted to approach the house they were believed to be in. The suspect and the teen then left in a grey pickup truck and led police on a chase.
The chase ended near West Cardinal Drive and Rolfe Christopher Drive, which is near the Lamar University soccer fields.
